Coconut coir retains water and breaks up soil just like peat moss. But unlike peat moss, coconut coir is a renewable byproduct, has a more balanced pH, and doesn't break down as quickly.
Both soil and coco coir are growing mediums that can be used for just about any kind of plant. Either type can be used indoors or outdoors, in containers, or for filling raised beds in your main garden space. You need to water and fertilise both soil and coco coir, too.
